Policy

The Heights Out of School Hours Care is a child-focused programme that aims to provide quality recreational care for pre-school and school aged children in a warm, safe and caring environment. We aim to meet the needs of our school community valuing each as individuals and ensuring equitable practises by:

  • providing a wide variety of relaxing, stimulating and enjoyable activities for children.
  • offering encouragement and support for parents, caregivers and families.
  • establishing and maintaining effective team partnerships with staff, parents, children, management committee members and school staff.

We aim to develop positive relationships and useful skills by encouraging and positively reinforcing the children to:

  • become self-disciplined
  • be considerate of and caring towards others
  • accept responsibility for their behaviour and act accordingly by taking ownership
  • develop skills of cooperation and sharing
  • be aware of the surroundings and recognise the need for order and care
  • act in a safe way.

Programme

The Heights OSHC is a fun and enjoyable programme providing care and supervision for children aged 4-16 years. Services provided by the programme include Before School Care, After School Care, Pupil Free/School Closure Days and Vacation Care. The programme is operated by The Heights School Governing Council through the Principal. Its daily operations are managed by an Administrative Committee made up of the directors, Principal's Delegate, School Finance Officer and Governing Council OSHC parent representative. Parent users of the service can influence service management through its advisory committee.
